Third Quarter Summary

Half Time Game Summary

Half-Time: 17-10 Michigan

One throw from the touchdown strike Michael Penix lobs a throw into double coverage and Will Johnson picked it off. With the ball back, and all the momentum in the world Michigan went to Blake Corum who ran threw the middle of the field. After a good start Michigan gets two false starts to give the Huskies life. On second and 18 McCarthy dropped back but #91 knocked the throw down at the line. With a long third down Bruener folded McCarthy as he threw and the Huskies forced a much needed field goal. 20-10.

With the ball back the Huskies opted for a safer start running a draw through the middle for Dillon Johnson. Odunze caught a screen to pick up a first proving to be a much better drive than the previous one. The short passes are working as Devin Culp caught a screen for another first down, plus an unnecessary roughness from a frustrated Wolverine defense added 15 more yards. The Huskies couldn’t quite get the yards they needed as pressure forced a check down throw. Grady Gross came out again and went right down the middle to cut the lead to 20-13.

Michigan went with the run but the Huskies are stepping up. Dominique Hampton made a big play to set up third down, and then Carson Bruener got right into the gap and stopped Corum in his tracks to get the Huskies the ball back. The Huskies kept up the short pass offense going as underneath routes and screens moved the chains. For the second time on the night Penix looked deep and overshot Polk and on third and long he went deep again just barely missing Odunze despite a handful of Rome’s jersey being pulled. Jack McCallister has been an unsung hero so far. His punts haven’t looked too pretty but they have gotten great rolls and he does it again pinning Michigan inside their own 10.

Starting from their own seven Michigan kept trying to run up the middle and got met by Husky defenders, but on third down JJ McCarthy got free for 22 yards flipping the drive on its head. They went back to McCarthy for another first down now moving the football at will. The ball in the hands of the running backs was getting stuffed, and on a screen Kamren Fabiculanan read it perfectly and delivered a huge hit. Roman Wilson’s screen was forced out by Asa Turner and the defenses were going drive for drive.

Penix missed Polk on first down, but Jack Westover made another big play to convert first down. 15 minutes remain on the CFB season
