Fourth Quarter Summary: The Final Chapter

Third Quarter Summary

20-13 Michigan

The Huskies continue to take advantage of space underneath but wide open on third down Will Nixon saw a pass slip threw his hands and sends the punt team out. McCallister pins another punt deep setting the defense up to make a play. Michigan picked up four on second down and third down saw Voi Tunuufi giving JJ MCathy pressure and clipping his feat to trip him up allowing Ralen Goforth to make sure McCarthy was well short of the line to gain.

A good first down throw from Penix was knocked out of Ja’Lynn Polk’s hands. After that the Huskies finally got their deep shot but an iffy iffy hold on the Huskies cost them 10 yards. After having a big play robbed by the refs the Huskies played it safe and were forced to punt the ball back to the Wolverines.

They couldn’t be expected to hold this Wolverine offense all night, and Colston Loveland finally gave the Wolverines a big play. Catching a high throw from McCarthy and taking it for big yards after to take it to the Husky 30. From there Michigan’s offense looked the same it had earlier, using a heavy diet o Blake Corum to punch it into the end zone to make it 27-13.

In a desperate situation Rome Odunze got open down the right sideline, taking Penix’s shot for 44 yards and a huge Husky first down. Despite the big play momentum the Huskies got a false start, an in completion, a two yard gain, a ball out of McMillan’s reach set up a fourth down play for the game. On the first attempt at fourth down pressure got to Penix and he was forced to chuck a ball up. A holding in Washington and a pass interference on Michigan reset the play. Michigan only brought four, but Penix missed his throw and it was picked. The return made it inside the ten yard line. Michigan went with Corum for two plays and made it 34-13, essentially sealing this one for the Maize and Blue.

Penix comes on to the field very obviously in pain. Rumors of injuries followed him all season and they are seeming to come true tonight. Even in desperation the Huskies are needing to fight for every single yard. It’s just not been their night, and this team just doesn’t look like the one we saw a week ago.

The Huskies couldn’t find anything else and gave Michigan the ball back closing things out at 34-13.

Final: 34-13 Michigan
