LISTEN: 4th and Inches Podcast Discusses Washington’s Victory Over Michigan State

The Washington Huskies took down the #11 team in the country on the shores of Montlake on Saturday night. The resounding victory was an exclamation point in the first act of the Kalen DeBoer era.

Michael Penix was masterful through the first three and a half quarters Saturday night shredding the MSU secondary and Mel Tucker’s hopes of a second half comeback.

With two late touchdowns by Michigan State, the final score made the game look closer than it actually was, Washington dominated this game from the first series.

One drive, in particular, summed up the Spartans’ dismal night was the final drive in the 2nd quarter.  With 1:22 remaining in the half, Penix masterfully drove the Husky’s hurry up offense 73 yards, capping off the sequence with a dart to Ja’Lynn Polk for one of his three touchdowns of the night with just four seconds left in the half.  The 78-second drive pushed Washington’s advantage a three touchdown lead, 29-8.

UW Leah and Trevor Mueller start the podcast with ramifications of the huge win for the program going forward. Later Kaila joins to break down each position group.

Finally the three take a look at the impressive non-conference showing of the PAc-12 conference.
