WOOF! Vegas BUCK, Anthony Jones Commits to Washington

And just like that, what happens in Vegas…winds up at Washington. Anthony Jones, the 6-5, 242 lb. future BUCK committed to Washington and joined teammates Sir Mells and Germie Bernard in what appears to be a growing pipeline to Liberty High School in Vegas.

“They were the first big school to offer”, Jones told Realdawg.com about his decision to be a Husky, “They took the time to talk to my mom and that meant a lot to me.”

Jones came on the scene quite awhile back when the Huskies were scouting the scene in Vegas, “It’s been a couple of months and I’ve been able to really build that relationship with Coach K — they really care and it’s like a family.”

Originally, Kwiatkowski and Durham Cato both were having an offense/defense tug-of-war for Jones, but the decision was made to put Jones on defense, “Coach K wants me off the edge”, he said, “The same way they used Joe Tryon.”

And Tryon is a good comparison for Jones; he’s big, long and athletic. Jones hasn’t played a lot of defense so he’s somewhat of a blank canvas the coaches can mold and develop.

Jones is going to be a physical player for the Huskies and has a ton of upside.

And of course, why would anyone doubt Coach K and his eye for talent?

“My family loves Coach K”, Jones added, “My mom is glad it’s not too far away and she loves how pretty it is up there because she’s been there  before.”

The big story here is that Washington has made a clean-sweep of Liberty High School in Vegas for 2022 — Mells, Jones, and Bernard will get to continue their friendship on into college.

While Jones just started at Liberty (after transferring from Arbor View), the three couldn’t be happier to being teammates again at the next level, “IT’s a dream come true”, Jones said, “It’s surreal.”

Jones said he is totally done now, and that if any coaches come calling, “I’ll let everyone know I am committed”, he said.

Kwiatkowski and Jimmy Lake were very happy when Jones told them he was committing, “Coach Lake was fired up”, Jones said, “I know my dreams will come true.”
