WOOF! Huskies add Kicker to Class of 2022

WOOF! Huskies add Kicker to Class of 2022

Scottsdale, AZ kicker Grady Gross announced tonight on Twitter that he has committed to Washington. The team’s newest commit will most likely compete for both the kicking and punting job as a true freshman, and is an exciting prospect as a kicker.

At 5-11, 195, Gross was in Seattle over the weekend for an official visit, but ended the journey tonight with a surprise commitment. That brings the total up to five commitments from the staff’s first weekend of official visits, and six if you

Kalen DeBoer didn’t use his new iteration of the “Woof” tweet, so this caught fans (and media) off-guard. Gross, who will be a preferred walk-on, is an excellent prospect as both a kicker and a punter. As I’m not the expert on analyzing kickers and punters, here’s what Kohl’s Professional Camps, one of the most prestigious kicking camps in the country had to say about Washington’s newest kicker.

“Gross attended the Kohl’s 2021 National Scholarship Camp and earned a spot in the Under Armour All-American Game. Gross scored 33 points on FG’s and had a kick-off score of 111.5 at the July event. He showed great field goal range off the ground and an ability to kick under pressure. Gross hits a clean rotating ball that is good from 55-60 yards away. His smooth mechanics allow him to comfortably swing through the ball and have it carry. Gross can also hit kick-offs very well as he scored 116 points in December of 2020 and 117 points in May of 2021 at the Western Showcase. Gross is a very good player that should draw a lot of D1 interest as a kicker who can also back up punting.”

Kohl’s rated Gross as a five-star kicker, and the number three kicker in the country for the class of 2022. They also gave him a rating of 4.5 stars as a punter.
