Jimmy Lake took to Zoom today to speak with the media about the past week of practice, and where things stand with the quarterbacks.
Although there isn’t much to report on any one specific quarterback, Lake said “I see a progression…early on mistakes are going to happen when you’re going against a really good defense.”
But the coach added that there is still a “steady progression”.
The complete video is below, but here’s a few keynotes:
**Lake said he always stresses “getting better”, and that means watching extra film, the zoom meetings, and while he and the coaches are seeing a great deal of “execution on both sides of the ball”, the definitely need a couple of more weeks of practice.
**Lake also said that the biggest focus for the team, as a whole, is preparation at every unit and with every coach.
**On the newcomer receivers, Lake said “They bring a lot of energy…caught some impressive footballs in some situations we put them in.”
**Coach also said that the team showed up for fall camp in “95% great shape”, and the other 5% just needed “extra stuff before and after practice.” He had a lot of praise for the strength and conditioning staff, and added that “Right now we’re in excellent shape.”
**Lake said the team has an “uncommon unity”, and went so far as to say “We believe we’re the most unified team in the country…it starts with leaders taking care of the rookies.”
