Washington edge defender Bralen Trice and receiver Rome Odunze have both been named to the Associated Press Preseason All-American First Team.
Trice, a 6-4, 274-pound defender from Phoenix, led all Power 5 defenders with 67 total quarterback pressures last season. His 9 sacks in 2022 (11th among Power 5 defenders) had him just outside the top 10 all-time single-season efforts and 11 for his career. If he can match last season’s output he’d move into UW’s career sack leaders at 8th all-time. Trice is also a candidate for the 2023 Bronko Nagurski Trophy Watch List.
A top of the line AP Preseason All-American first team defense! 💪 🔥 Who are you most excited to watch this season? pic.twitter.com/Ye90pmBHjF

This is one of his 9 sacks from 2022.
This non-stunt, non-blitz…SPY SACK by UW’s Bralen Trice is INSANE. He started out on the DL at the 30, drops into spy/pass coverage at the 25, creeps to the 30, avoids the block, gets the sack. PFF has him with 15 pressures and 13 hurries, and 1 of UW’s 6 sacks. pic.twitter.com/ayl8nFEXW3

Odunze is entering his 4th season in the Purple and Gold was named to the AP’s 3rd team after last season. This is his 5th preseason All-American list that includes Athlon, Walter Camp, Pick-6 Preview, and Phil Steele. Last season his 1,145 yards were the fifth-most in UW single-season history and his 75 receptions were the seventh-most in Husky history. For his career at UW the 6-3, 215-pound junior sits 284 yards from being a top-10 receiver. If he could match his 2022 output he would have 2,777, good enough for 3rd all-time at Washington. He would trail only Reggie Williams and Jermaine Kearse.
Odunze is also a candidate for the Walter Camp Award, Biletnikoff Award, and the Maxwell Award.
There's a whole lot of talent on the AP Preseason All-American first team offense😤
