“It’s tuff,” 3-star Washington edge defender target Josiah “Cheese”Hammond said of the superhero graphic sent to him Friday morning by the Huskies.

It’s a piece of the master plan of new head coach Jedd Fisch’s to be a maniacal recruiter.
“It sort of like a love note you leave on the counter to surprise someone special in your life,” noted Trevor Mueller, RealDawg’s lead high school recruiting analyst. “It lets that them know you care about them.”
The Washington Huskies have kept up on snail-mailing some hand-written birthday greetings, sent official visits graphics, and various other “edits” throughout the first part of the year, but the superhero graphic appears to be for no other reason than “we’re thinking about you”.

But Hammond didn’t think it was cheesy.
“I love it,” he told RealDawg.
There’s a good reason, too: the graphic was done by award winning comic book writer and artist Francis Manapul.
A Canada-based artists, Manapul is currently a writer and artist on DC’s New 52 THE FLASH—which may be the inspiration behind the gold bolt of lightning on the superhero suit.
Also incorporated into the purple and gold design by the New York Times best-selling author, is the line “All About the W” from Washington head coach Jedd Fisch’s introductory speech in January.
”It’s a clean edit,” Hammond said.
Opposite Fisch’s catch phrase, in the upper left corner is “W Football” with an issue number and the cost in the US and Canada. Perhaps it’s the barcode in the bottom right gives the full superhero comic book look.
The 6-5, 255 defender from Will Rodgers High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma is new to the football scene having only played one season of varsity football will be visiting UW June 21-23.
But didn’t now he certainly feels the love from the Huskies—and that’s all by design.
