Tuputala talks about Commitment to Washington

Realdawg.com spoke to the newest name on the Husky commit list, Federal Way linebacker, Alphonzo Tuputala. He said the decision to stay home was about faith, family, and of course, great football.

“I went there today”, Tuputala said of the unofficial visit to Washington he took, “My family came too — they’re hyped. I went with my parents and siblings”.

The 6-2, 240 lb. local prospect said the decision was a result of a lot of prayer, but also a no-brainer seeing how close he is to his siblings, “We’re all in this together”, he said, “I have to thank God for this.”

The Huskies got to see Tuputala in action up close at the recent Rising Stars camp, and the fact that he stuck around for a second session showed the coaches just how determined this young man is, and that shows both in his strength of character and the job he does on the field.

He’s a tough, tough player. He’s an inside linebacker according to all databases, but this is a guy who would run through a brick wall to get to a quarterback — for that reason — it’s uncertain right now if he will play inside or outside. He has the tools to do either.

“I’m real excited because the program has been on an incline and it’s a blessing to know I’ll be a part of something”, Tuputala said of the decision.

He’s from the same place as Husky WR, Chico McClatcher, and knows guys already on the roster such as Benning Potoa’e and Jared Pulu. He also has an ecclesiastical connection to current Husky OL commit, Nathaniel Kalepo.

“Our family’s both go to the same church”, Tuputala said.

This is a big pick up for the Huskies.
