Second Quarter Summary

The quarter starts at 7-7

Tybo Rogers opens the quarter with a big carry into first and goal. Texas with another penalty moving it to the two. Dillon Johnson gets the ball as a fullback and is untouched and walks into the end zone. 14-7 Huskies.

Ulofoshio sniffs out the screen for a loss of two. Ulofoshio is making a difference. Muhammad forces a ball towards Xavier Worthy into the dirt. Texas takes a screen for eight yards and Texas is punting. But Germie Bernard loses the punt and Texas has the ball near the 20. Texas is running the ball at will and Ewers finally completes a pass up field for the first on the one yard line. Defensive tackle Byron Murphy punches it in to tie things at 14-14.

Penix gets another opportunity and drops one straight into the arms of Rome Odunze for a 52 yard gain giving the Huskies a big burst of momentum. But three straight gives to Johnson sets up fourth and one. The play call on fourth is a wild cat to Johnson which gets blown up. UW looked like they had a chance to take back momentum but now the defense needs to make a play.

Texas is running like they have all night. Ewers takes his deep shot but it was under thrown. Texas handed it off and Muhammad and Trice got there with Trice making a tackle. Ewers was forced to throw way early as Bruener gets to Ewers.

A trick play on first down is handed off to McMillan but his throw back was into the ground (and forward). After reviewing it McMillan is marked inches short to make it fourth down. The hard count doesn’t get a jump but DeBoer sends the offense back out and Dillon Johnson gets five. Penix was forced out of the pocket and makes a throw from standing on the line of scrimmage and gets the first. Penix puts a dart into the hands of Jack Westover for a first down. Penix barely missed Culp and  pressure forced him to move. A hurried throw got tipped, but Ja’Lynn Polk grapped the tip drill to put the Huskies back on top.

Tuli Letuligasenoa gets his hand on Ewers’ throw but Texas gets the first on the next play. Ewers finally makes a good throw and Jaydon Blue drops the ball after beating coverage. Ewers is gaining his legs as he’s made a couple good throws. The Longhorns are moving the ball through the air as the seconds wind down. Trice and Tunuufi forces Ewers out but he uses his legs. Another Ewers scramble leads to first and goal for Texas. Asa Turner’s late hit sets Texas up to hand the ball to CJ Baxter to make it 21-21.
