INSTANT REACTION: A Few Surprises in Washington’s Offensive Line for Season Opener

INSTANT REACTION: A Few Surprises in Washington’s Offensive Line for Season Opener

On their way to the College Football Playoffs in 2016, Washington offensive line coach Scott Huff relied upon an undersized freshman, Nick Harris at right guard.

In a plot twist reminiscent of the Harris move, Parker Brailsford has drawn the start in Washington’s season opener against Boise State on Saturday.

Although Harris didn’t become Washington’s full-time starter well into the 2016 season.

Like Harris, Brailsford will benefit from an All-American candidate to his right at the tackle position.  Harris had Kaleb McGary and Brailsford has Rosengarten.

To his left is a veteran center and fellow Arizonan Matteo Mele—who is backed up by true freshman Landen Hatchett.  Hatchett’s older brother Geirean is backing up Brailsford.

Junior Nate Kalepo will share the left guard duties with sophomore Julius Beulow

At left tackle is All-American candidate on the offensive line is junior Troy Fautanu.  Newcomer, Kansas State transfer Jalen Klemm will backup Fautanu.

RealDawg.com will have more on Washington’s two-deep roster shortly.
