In-State Rising Star Excited about Husky Offer

Brush Prairie (Hockinson) receiver, Sawyer Racanelli and his family made the trip into Seattle today (Saturday) to check out UW and find out where things stand with his recruitment, and he came away with a full-ride offer from the Huskies.

“It’s awesome — super cool”, Racanelli told Realdawg.com, “I kind of figured it might happen but I wasn’t 100% sure”.

Racanelli is a rising star in the state; he’s up to 10 offers right now — with his latest from Washington, Michigan, and UCLA. But this one from the Huskies might have given them a big in-road.

“My dad had played for Coach Pete when he was at Portland State, and so just sitting down and talking was definitely a highlight”, Racanelli said.

But Washington may have also soared to the top of Racanelli’s list, “I would say they’re in the top two, or probably number-one right now”, he said, adding that he’s still taking it all in.

Another highlight was his interaction with Junior Adams, “He’s super cool”, Racanelli said, “He really knows what he’s talking about. He’s pretty set on me at wide receiver, but Coach Lake is also fighting for me (on defense). I like wideout though.”

The fact that UW is close to home is naturally appealing, and Racanelli liked what he saw facility-wise, “I’ve been to a game before but I hadn’t been in the locker room or anything, but it’s awesome.”

So now, Racanelli said he might try to arrange an unofficial trip back to Ann Arbor to check out Michigan, and is also hoping to make it to Arizona this spring.

He is also hoping to have his decision made late in the summer and prior to his senior season beginning, but the Husky offer is a big one for him, “My parents love it”, he said, “They’re super-excited.”

Racanelli may also take place in the Oakland Opening, depending on his baseball schedule, but he knows he will definitely be participating in the May Madness combine at Juanita High School this spring.

And yes, he wants to get back to Washington for an official visit.
