Nothing kills recruiting momentum like your quarterback-of-the-future taking visits to another school. Exactly two weeks to the day since losing their QB commit the Washington Huskies relanded their new quarterback-of-the-future with the commitment of Dermaricus Davis.
It wasn’t just a bad look for Washington from the outside of having the person that they were building the offense around to be looking at other schools, it also takes time away from him helping shore up the recruiting class he was supposed to be leading.
Since his commitment on Saturday, Jason Robinson committed the Long Beach Poly receiver has taken the leadership role of locking down the biggest recruiting day since the Steve Sarkisian-era. As the ring leader in recruiting he was working behind the scenes this weekend but he was also out in front on social media engaging and helping the coaches close on many of the other commits.
Mere hours before Davis’ commitment it seemed like the Washington coaches were unsure if he’d commit. Robinson made sure that he did. And now, as other players are on the fence, you can bet that Robinson is either on a workout or working the phones. Since he took the reins of this recruiting class it’s reigned recruits.
Since Robinson’s commitment, the Huskies have pulled in:
–4-star edge defender Noah Carter
–4-star linebacker Khmori House
–3-star quarterback Dermaricus Davis
–3-star tight end Decker DeGraaf
–3-star defensive lineman Omar Khan
–3-star defensive lineman Ratumana Bulabalavu
–3-star receiver Justice Williams
That’s leadership. Or as coach Kalen DeBoer would probably say: leaders lead. They’re not out there doing their own thing.
Ok, sure, going into the weekend, the Huskies have had a few silent commitments, but Williams has used his energy to reel in those on the fence–like his quarterback Dermarcius Davis whose commitment
Robinson’s recruiting resembles what he does on the field–hauling in difficult passes. There’s a lot of fruit on the tree and RealDawg.com will continue to have full coverage.
