Egbuka Breaks Down his Top Four

Realdawg.com spoke with 5-star receiver, Emeka Egbuka Thursday evening on the eve of the release of his Top Four schools.

The Top Four are Washington, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Ohio State.

Oklahoma:

“They’ve gotten really good recruiting classes in ’20 and ’21”, Egbuka said, “They also have the number-one quarterback…he’s a dual-threat quarterback. And they develop their receivers. I love Coach Riley and know he’s one of the best. Coach Simmons is real genuine.”

Ohio State:

“I have a really good relationship with the entire staff”, he said, “They also develop their receivers and they’re always competing for the national championship.”

Clemson:

“I like that they’re faith-based; Coach Sweeney likes that atmosphere of faith, family and football — but they really develop their receivers and it’s a smaller town. I like that college-town atmosphere.”

Washington:

“It’s my hometown…I have a great relationship with Coach Adams and know he can develop me. I also have a lot of confidence in Coach Lake and know he’s going to bring a lot of aggressiveness to the offense, more air-raid. I just have a lot of confidence in him. Also, there’s Sam (Huard). We talk all the time.”

So, on trips, Egbuka said he plans to visit these schools officially in the fall, Washington included.

My take?

While he didn’t tell me this, I believe this is ultimately going to come down to a Washington/Ohio State battle. He has been to Ohio State three times now, but he never committed on any of those trips.

Remember that Kyler Gordon went back to Notre Dame several times and still wound up staying home and playing for Washington. I think Washington is in a strong place right now; especially with Sam Huard recruiting Egbuka.

Egbuka hasn’t been to Oklahoma, but was scheduled to take a trip to Norman before the virus hit.

We do appreciate Egbuka giving us a call last night and breaking this down so we’d have a story ready to go up for our subscribers. He is a quality young man who will be an asset on and off the field to whichever school he selects.
