Class of 2023: Washington Husky All-American Hatchett “Fired” by Coach

Washington Husky offensive line commit Landen Hatchett, a class of 2024 commit and younger brother to current Washington offensive lineman, Geirean Hatchett received some bad (yet humorous) news in Ferndale’s victory over the Mt. Vernon Bulldogs last night.

Hatchett’s Golden Eagles had built a 41-0 lead and the coaches looked to give reserve players opportunities.  Looking down the bench he saw a special team’s secret weapon:  All-American offensive lineman Landen Hatchett, punter.

With his toes on Ferndale’s 5-yard line, Hatchett sent a nice-looking punt.  The ball went about 40 yards with the roll, coming to rest just inside the Golden Eagle side of the field.  Coming off the field, Landen was greeted by the third Hatchett, Chance.

“Bruh, how do you feel about that punt?” chuckled Chance.

Pulling off his helmet, revealing his now legendary locks, Landen sounded hopeful that he might have shown enough to get a second shot sometime down the road.

“You know, I think I could have got more boot on it,” Landen replied.

But his defensive line coach immediately crushed that dream.

“You’re fired,” joked his defensive line coach, Brian Hoezle.

Hatchett is the Golden Eagles’ backup punter, giving way to Jack Mason for the long snapping duties on punts, field goals, and point after attempts, but this was his first live punt of his career.

Could it be his last?
