Class of 2023: In-Depth Look at Washington’s Recruiting Fortunes

New Washington head coach, Kalen DeBoer, was tasked with turning the program around both on and off the field, but Washington’s fortunes were hinging on turning things around in the locker room, as well.

In each case, the new staff had some convincing to do.  While some viewed the Husky offense as antiquated in 2021, DeBoer had to convince the current players that he inherited that they would be integral to returning the program to prominence.

Before the season’s kickoff he would also have to convince recruits of the class of 2023 that the turnaround would be quick.  With less than 2 months before the early signing period begins Kaila Olin is taking an in-depth look the recruiting for each position.

The first to pledge to the new staff was a running back from California Tybo Rogers.  The Bakerfield back is coached by former Husky-great Rashaan Sheehee.  Olin breaksdown running back recruiting for the Huskies for this recruiting cycle.

Rashid Williams a 4-star receiver from Pittsburgh, California followed suit as the Huskies recruiting shifted into high gear.  Olin examines recruiting at the receiver position.

Defensive backs this season has been a work-in-progress.  Youth and injuries have left many to point to that position for immediate help.  In this preview,  Olin looks at defensive back recruiting to see who might be impactful in the 2023 season.

Finding the right linebackers that fit the defensive scheme is important.  Even with 2 commits, there’s work to be done at fortifying this position.  Olin reviews the state of linebacker recruiting for the 2023 recruiting class.

4th and Inches Podcast’s Trevor Mueller chatted with Roman Tomashoff about what to expect from the 2023 recruiting class.

The series will continue next week with Olin breaking down another position.
