Cali Corner, Chance Tucker taking Virtual Visit to Washington This Week

Washington continues to recruit defensive backs for 2021, and Encino, CA (Crespi) corner, Chance Tucker checks off all the boxes. They offered back in May and we talked to Tucker about this offer and what it means.

With 19 offers on the table, Tucker said that the offer from Washington is “Definitely a huge one.

“It’s a great school both for academics and football-wise”, he said, “I’m very interested.”

Tucker said he and Will Harris and Terrence Brown have established a strong relationship now, and they will be joining him on Wednesday for a virtual tour of the campus and football facilities.

On the field, Tucker is definitely the prototype that Harris likes to see in his secondary; he’s got length (6-1, 170) and his speed is right where it needs to be. While he’s fluid in man coverage, but will also drop back and offer run support. Tucker has long arms and the frame to fill out in college and be a disruptive force in the secondary.

Tucker also watches a lot of film and has a extraordinarily high football IQ.

“Washington always has great defenses, and their secondary is young, but they do a great job of developing their players and men on and off the field”, Tucker said.

Tucker originally wanted to get to Seattle at some point, and take other trips as well, but with COVID that hasn’t been able to happen, “I realized I’m going to need to be flexible and might have to make a decision before I can get to a school in person”, he said.

His cousin, Amanda Johnson played women’s hoops for Washington several years ago, and Tucker knows that Washington has exactly what he’s looking for, but will that be enough?

“It’s going to come down to academics”, Tucker explained, “Also going to a school where there’s a good football program and I can be developed as a man on and off the field and reach my goals and dreams”, he said.

If I had a Crystal Ball? I’d pick him to Washington.

Stay tuned…
