Washington defensive Julius Irvin is medically retired, coach Kalen DeBoer announced.
The 6-1, 190-pound cornerback playedin the first six games of the season before a season-ending injury this past season.
The youngest son of 11-year NFL veteran LeRoy Irvin, Julius prepped at Servite High School in Southern California where he was a 4-star product, who Washington beat out Blue Blood programs Alabama, Notre Dame, Florida, Michigan, Oklahoma and Texas A&M.
Washington’s defensive backfield endured numerous injuries in 2022, rarely starting the same crew as the week prior.
“Drinking from a fire hose,” was how defensive coordinator William Inge described Irvin’s trial-by-fire indoctrination into the CB position from his normal safety position.
Irvin will graduate this Spring.
