Some opening betting lines have just opened in Las Vegas. The SouthPoint sports book released three betting lines for Washington’s 2022 schedule. The games include Michigan State, Oregon, and Washington State.
Washington’s first true test will be a home primetime matchup against the Michigan State Spartans. According to the SouthPoint sports book in Las Vegas, Washington opens as a 6.5-point underdog. The Spartans finished 2021 with an 11-2 record, capped off by an impressive Peach Bowl win over No. 12 Pittsburgh. It will be a fun environment at Husky Stadium. Both teams should be undefeated heading into September 17th. The game airs on ABC at 4:30 pm.
The Huskies open as 13-point underdogs at Oregon on November 12th. Last season in Seattle, the Ducks beat the Huskies, 26-16. That would be the final game coached by Jimmy Lake at UW. A gametime has yet to be announced for the game.
Washington opens as 1-point favorites at Washington State on November 26th. UW’s 7-game wining streak in the Apple Cup came to a halt last season as WSU dominated the Huskies, 40-13. The Huskies will look to regain their dominance in the series.
Reaction:
I think for the most part the betting lines seem about right. If there were any surprises it could be how large the 6.5-point spread is in the Michigan State game. I could really see that game being decided by a field goal. The Washington at Oregon spread seems spot on. And for the Apple Cup, I believe the game should be a pick em’.
These lines will definitely change over the course of the season. I do expect the Huskies to be underdogs in almost every road game. But with that said, UW hasn’t been a team flying under the radar in a very long time. This could set up very well for them.
