WOOF: Makell Esteen is a Dawg

Lawndale High School in California is quickly becoming a DB pipeline for Washington, and today Makell Esteen has added his name to the class of 2020 roster.

“They breed DB’s”, Esteen said about Washington, “They send a lot of players to the league.”

Esteen was offered by Washington over a year ago, catching their early attention and finally taking an official trip to Washington back in June.

“I’ve known Coach Harris since my freshman year when he was recruiting me”, Esteen said, “I think we do have a good relationship”, and that definitely played in to his decision to make Washington his destination for college.

“I like the way they play and I like the coaching staff”.

On the field Esteen has solid coverage skills and gets to the ball quickly. He’s a ball-hawk and comes down skillfully to make tackles and close. He could play either corner or safety and that’s also something that Lake likes to see out of the defensive backs he recruits.

At 6-2, 175 his ceiling is extremely high and a big part of why he wanted to get this decision out of the way now is because he and his teammates (including Elijah Jackson) are laser-focused on their season and getting some hardware at the end of the season.

This is a huge pickup for the Huskies. Both Esteen and Jackson are very worthy of being 4-star recruits.
