WOOF: Washington Lands 4-Star Kentucky Point Guard Transfer

The Washington Huskies have pulled in an old friend of Washington forward Keion Brooks, landing Kentucky point guard transfer, Sahvir Wheeler.  Wheeler announced it live on  YouTube.

Brooks and Wheeler were teammates at Kentucky for the 2021-2022 season.

Officially listed 5-9 and 180 pounds, is a senior grad transfer with one year of eligibility remaining.

Rated as a 4-star coming out of Houston Christian High School in Texas, Wheeler started 17 games as a true freshman at Georgia.

Between his two seasons at each Georgia and Kentucky, )2019 and 2023) he played in a total of 108 games.

He greatest attribute is his Michael Penix-like ability to distribute the ball. In the 2001-22 season he finished with 207 assists on the season which is the fourth most in a single season in Kentucky’s storied history.

For his career he is averaging over 10 points a game.

Mike Hopkins typically likes players with more length, but the trade off is Wheeler’s proclivity for pass-first.  However, he averaged over 40 steals on his 4 collegiate seasons.  Additionally, he averaged 2.3 a game over his career.
