The door to the Transfer Portal has been open since Monday, and after nearly a dozen departures the Washington Huskies have landed its second portal offensive lineman.
The Huskies reaquired geirean Hatchett, who transferred to Oklahoma last off-season, now the Huskies have landed Kansas State transfer Carver Willis.
UW’s biggest need heading into 2025 appeared to be its offensive line and little surprise that that position group was targeted first.
“Willis had played a lot of ball and can fill a big need for UW at the tackle position,” RealDawg’s Trevor Muller said. “After losing Gaard Memmelaar and Kahlee Tafai they’ve more than made up with the defections with experience.
Willis will be arriving in Seattle from Kansas State where he has been since 2020. With one year of eligibility left the 6-5, 291-pound right tackle could be a crucial addition to the Huskies offensive line.
“Between Hatchett and Willis, the Huskies become more mobile which suits quarterback Demond Williams’ style,” Mueller noted.
Willis has played a big roll for the Wildcats as he has started at right tackle for the past two seasons. In his time at Kansas State he picked up an all-Big 12 honorable mention in 2023 along with his unit being named a semifinalists to the Joe Moore award for the nations best offensive line, an honor that the Huskies group would end up winning.
Willis is ranked as 247’s #4 offensive lineman in the portal and is expected to start for the Huskies in 2025.
