WOOF! Texas Corner Headed to Washington

WOOF! Texas Corner Headed to Washington

Jaivion Green snuck into Seattle over the weekend, and came away with an offer and a plan to sign on Wednesday with the Huskies.

“I feel great”, the 6-2, 195 lb. corner told Realdawg.com while waiting to board a plane at SeaTac, “I’m looking forward to going there and signing Wednesday.”

Green came onto the radar late, but so did the Husky staff because of the coaching changes, “I know they came in late in the game but that’s alright”, Green said.

It doesn’t mean that Green isn’t a legit athlete; he’s long and fast. A little reminiscent of Kevin King in terms of his body make-up and has all the intangibles to make an impact in the secondary.

Green’s ball skills, instincts, hops, and just because the networks don’t know much about him doesn’t mean Juice Brown and Kalen DeBoer didn’t see enough to go ahead and make a solid scholarship offer.

In fact, the networks were so behind on this they actually reported that this was a “preferred walk on” offer and one reporter went so far as to Tweet out that Green committed as a preferred walk-on.

Fake news. Wouldn’t be the first time.

Why Washington? “Coach DeBoer, Coach Juice, it felt like a family there”, Green said, “My parents loved it up there.”

Green’s parents Keith and Amanda were with him on the trip, of course, and are both very supportive of their son’s decision.

Washington has done well in Texas with both prior staffs, and looks to continue that trend with the new staff in place. Brown’s connections in Texas run deep and as the program continues on an upper trajectory this will only get stronger.

Signing Day is Wednesday, right now there are still a couple young people waiting to make their announcements on that day. We will have more on that later, but for now, Greens commitment is welcome news to the Husky secondary.
