Upland, CA. has been good to the Washington Huskies in the past few years; Joe Mathis is one guy that left his mark on the program, and then they landed tailback, Cameron Davis earlier this year for the class of 2019. Tonight, the Huskies scored again from Upland in reeling in wide receiver, Taj Davis.
Davis, who’s 6-2, 187 and runs a 4.5 40, will be the first wideout to add his name to the Class of 2019 roster — and he was gracious enough to give Realdawg.com the news yesterday, while we also agreed to keep the news silent until he announced it on Twitter. So we already have some quotes about why he chose the Huskies.
“I know they have a need for me in the wide receiver room”, Davis said, “The staff is just amazing — when I was up there I loved everything about it and it just felt like home. I love Coach Pete’s system, and the whole idea of the OKG.
“I can’t wait to begin my career at Washington”.
Davis had been in Seattle last month to check out Washington alongside teammate and Husky tailback commit, Cameron Davis (the two aren’t related). Did that friendship come into play in the commitment to Washington?
“Cameron and I are real close, we had talked about going to the same school so this is a dream come true for us.”
Davis is a very underrated receiver. He holds 22 offers, and last season he caught 51 passeds for 1230 yards. He averaged 100.3 yards per game receiving as well. He’s a rangy, fast receiver who brings a sound skillset and work ethic to the Husky offense, and his stock had just begun to take a sharp rise in the past week.
This is a big pick up for Washington.
