WOOF: Jacob Bandes is a Husky

The West’s top defensive tackle and the number-six d-tackle in the country, Jacob Bandes announced that he has committed to Washington tonight.

Bandes, who’s a 4-star prospect out of Antioch (Pittsburg), CA., had thought he would announce in January at the Army American bowl, but decided to get it done now (we cover this more extensively in our article from earlier this week).

Bandes also told us that evening that he would be committing to Washington, but we told him we would not report this until it all comes out of his mouth on Twitter, and of course, when Coach Petersen “Woofs>”

“I chose Washington because it’s closer to home, and I wanted to stay on the West Coast”, he told Realdawg.com, “I have a great relationship with all the coaches and Coach Malloe has been great. I also have a good relationship with Coach Pete and feel like they can get me to that next level.”

Bandes said his family couldn’t be happier about the decision, in fact, when he came to Seattle with his entire family back in April they took a trip into the Husky Store at Hec-Ed and bought some souvenirs, “My dad bought a blanket and my brother bought a hoodie”, he said, “I bought a hat and my mom bought a jacket.”

So they’re all ready to suit up on gameday once their son enrolls at Washington, and he will be enrolling during winter quarter.

What is Washington getting with Bandes? He’s an All American, and we already covered his rankings and star rating. He’s a tough-nosed d-tackle who put on a great show at The Opening finals in Texas just recently and walked away with MVP honors.

This will be the second year in a row that Washington has snagged the top D-Tackle on the West Coast. Last year they signed Tuli Letuligasenoa.
