WOOF! Huskies Will Keep 4-Star TE, Ryan Otton at Home

It’s been a long process for Tumwater, WA. 2022 4-star tight end, Ryan Otton. But all roads led back to the place where “Otton” has become a household name; thee University of Washington.

Following in his older brother Cade’s footsteps, Ryan Otton committed to Jimmy Lake today after taking an unofficial visit with his family.

“I went on campus today”, he told Realdawg.com, “We had a meeting with Coach Lake — everyone was juiced up (about committing)…my family is really happy.”

So is big brother.

“Cade is happy for me”, Ryan said.

“UW just felt right for me”, he continued, “It’s close to home, I have good connections with people already there.”

He also had the tough task, however, of telling coaches from Stanford and Oregon State he would not be taking their offers, “That was really hard, it’s like a break up”, he said.

The Cardinal and Oregon State were in Otton’s final three; he visited both schools before finishing up with a trip to Washington, but waiting it out was important to Otton so he could know without a doubt that he wanted to stay home.

Otton will not be enrolling early at Washington because he plays basketball, but there’s no question he will be ready to compete from the moment he shows up in a uniform.

Derham Cato has already made a marked impression on the younger Otton, “He’s an awesome person”, he said of the Husky TE coach, “He’s smart and he cares — and Cade has spoken so highly of him.”

On the field, Otton is very astute at blocking; more-so than most guys his age and stage in development, and he is good at routes, going across the middle when a QB wants to thread the needle, and the good news is that he’s still growing.
