WOOF: Huskies Reel in Texas Tailback, Jay’Veon Sunday

Realdawg.com confirmed earlier yesterday that Connally High School (Waco, TX) running back, Jay’Veon Sunday committed to the Huskies, but there was one more call he had to make.

That was to Coach Petersen. Once that was done, the die was cast and Sunday added his name to the 2020 class roster.

“He is one of the most physical and toughest players I’ve ever coached”, Connally head coach told Realdawg.com, “He loves the weight room and loves running the ball down hill. ”

The All-Central Texas Offensive Player Of The Year in 2018, Sunday led Central Texas in rushing yards with 2,357 and 36 touchdowns. The fact that he’s a three-star on the networks is a crime — he deserves to be a four-star, without question.

Sunday is a tough, physical inside runner with great vision and a real challenge for defenders to try to bring down. His YAC is solid and, at 5-11, 196, he has a great center of gravity when hitting the hole.

“He is a great student athlete and has overcome so much adversity as a young man already in his life”, Anderson added.”He will be very successful at Washington with coach Peterson and coach Bhonapha…I am extremely excited about him going to UW and being apart of a great program.”

Both Anderson and Sunday were in Seattle in January to take an unofficial trip to Washington, and that was a huge success. Anderson gave Sunday his full blessing and after the coach was able to visit with Keith Bhonapha last week at Connally High School, a phone call was ready to take place on Memorial Day.

That was when Sunday committed to Bhonapha, and next was that call to Coach Pete.
