The Huskies have continued to enjoy their pipeline to St. John Bosco, adding a pledge tonight from 4-star corner, Trent McDuffie.
McDuffie chose the Huskies tonight over Oregon, Stanford, USC, Oklahoma, UCLA, Notre Dame, Alabama, Michigan, and a bunch more. He is truly one of the elite corners on the West Coast for 2019.
“Washington was home for me”, McDuffie said of his decision, “I have built great relationships with the coaches and players and I feel Washington is the best place for me. Coach Pete has been waiting for this for awhile, so he is super excited, as am I.”
We know McDuffie is signing this month, but he won’t enroll early due to track.
“I’ve known Coach Lake since my sophomore year”, McDuffie said, “He was recruiting Keith Taylor — so our relationship is solid. We always talk and I’m real comfortable with him.”
The coaches were in his home last night and he said afterwards, again, that the in-home was great and he feels like Washington is a special place.
McDuffie had been to Washington twice; once in the spring and then again on his official trip this past fall.
“Washington was amazing when I went up there for my official. The fans were awesome and I was able to see how the coaches coach. I was able to to talk with the whole coaching staff and get a better feel of the locker room.”
So what do the Huskies get with McDuffie?
He’s a very tough competitor with excellent coverage skills and closing speed. At 5-10, 190 McDuffie’s downhill coverage is what stands out and he has good hops and quickness. He is a perfect fit for the Huskies’ highly respected secondary and has a good chance to come in and play early.
McDuffie is also scary on special teams as a returner. He’s just an elusive, athletic presence on the field.
He will be the third St. John Bosco alum on the Husky roster; joined by Terrell Bynum and Sean McGrew.
