WOOF: Huskies Land 4-Star CO lineman, Roger Rosengarten

It was the last offer he received, and the best one for Colorado offensive tackle, Roger Rosengarten

In fact, Washington was the first school to ever even reach out to Rosengarten — and so it’s gone full circle that today, he has added his name to the Class of 2020 commitment roster.

Of the many reasons Rosengarten gave for choosing the Huskies, it was all just coming down to “a feel” he said, “When I feel it, I’ll know.”

“It was a perfect fit for me and my family”, Rosengarten said, adding that his relationship with Scott Huff is like that of a “second future father figure kind of relationship.”

Realdawg.com learned on Sunday that a decision was imminent for Rosengarten, and that he would be announcing that decision “later in the week”, and then on Monday night the confirmation came in that he was going to commit to Washington, despite a strong contingent of Crystal Baller’s who had him penciled into Oregon.

Throughout this past week, most have shifted their picks to Washington.

Rosengarten had visited Washington and his other finalist, Oregon twice during the spring; both unofficially and officially. The reason for such enthusiasm for Oregon was that he had grown up a Duck fan to a small extent, but that didn’t do much where the end result was concerned.

Rosengarten told Realdawg.com that his relationship with Scott Huff was a big part of it, and also the educational aspect of Washington and the alumni support after football stood out to him as well.

The background with Washington is that he was at the Dirt Dawg camp two years and competed as a d-tackle, but the coaches felt he would do better at o-line. He hadn’t been playing o-line, however, and so once his coach put him there during last season and Scott Huff and Chris Petersen got that film, the offer went out.

“I remember when I was first starting to get recruited it was when Coach Lubick was there (at Washington), and he was the first college coach to follow me on Twitter. That really drew me in and then I went to the camp”, Rosengarten explained, “I still had the defensive mindset but then I got to play offensive line…Washington was the last school to offer me and so, in my heart, that’s special.”

Also, Washington was one of the very first schools to even send Rosengarten mail when his journey was still in its early stages. That’s why he went to the Dirt Dawg camp.

Rosengarten has already received an invite to the All American Bowl, and all of his offers have come for his work on the o-line; he’s tough, quick, and plays with the aggression and attitude of a d-lineman. Rosengarten is athletic, has real solid balance, and has long arms — he’s very flexible at the hips and has the frame to add more weight and lean muscle.
