Menlo Park, CA. 4-star linebacker, Daniel Heimuli announced today that he’s signing with Washington.
While most predicted this months ago — it still came down to the official visits, “I committed before I left”, Heimuli told us two weeks ago following his official visit to Washington, but he wanted to wait to make the public announcement today.
Oregon also had gotten a visit out of Heimuli, and Alabama had tried to, but in the end, his first love was Washington.
“I have to do what’s best for me and for my future”, he said.
Heimuli is going to be the second new Husky out of Menlo-Atherton High School; his teammate, Noa Ngalu signed back in December.
Heimuli was the Defensive MVP of the Polynesian Bowl and his team went all the way to the state title this year — which is the reason it took so long for him to hit the road for visits in the first place.
Menlo-Atherton’s schedule was interrupted earlier in the season due to the fires in California, so their last game — the championship game — was played the weekend just before the first signing period. Heimuli was not able to fit any official trips in.
But today, he’s signed, sealed, and delivered to the Huskies.
