The Huskies continue to add to the Class of 2022, receiving a commitment today from Lincoln (Tacoma) TE, Chance Bogan.
The 6-4, 212 lb. tight end is the son of former Husky, Curtis Bogan, and the pull to stay home and play for the hometown crowd was strong, “My dad said he didn’t want to influence me on where I go”, Chance explained, “But he and my mom gave me the support to make my own decision.”
But he did look to his family for guidance in this, “It took talking to my mom and dad for a couple of months”, Bogan said.
So why Washington?
It wasn’t just that his dad was a Husky, although Bogan is well-familiar with the program and what Husky Football is all about, but even more it was what this young man saw for himself, “It’s the coaching staff…they’re like a family”, Bogan explained.
“I love Coach Lake and Coach Cato. They’ve always been so welcoming and I always wanted to put up for the hometown.”
He’s also pretty tight with guys already on the team because of FSP; he’s been catching passes from Sam Huard ever since joining the 7 on 7 circuit, and Bogan knows he will have a lot of opportunities at Washington on gameday.
“I know that Coach Cato will utilize me a lot”, he said.
Right now the plan is to get to around 225 at the next level, and Bogan has dedicated a lot of his workouts to his blocking skills; as it is he is already quick and runs real crisp routes. Bogan is flexible and has a little Hunter Bryant in him in that he has the explosion of a receiver.
Bogan also has a lot of faith in the future of the Huskies under Jimmy Lake, “100%” he said.
Bogan joins Nevada receiver, Germie Bernard in the Class of 2022, and chose the Huskies over offers from Tennessee, Colorado, Arizona State, Nevada, and Utah.
