The first commitment of an in-state prospect for the class of 2023 goes to three-star defensive end Jacob Lane! A product of Emerald Ridge High School in Puyallup, Washington, Lane is currently ranked as the 14th best player in the state of Washington, and becomes the fifth player to announce his commitment to Kalen DeBoer’s staff in the class of 2023.
It appears that Lane committed to the Husky staff on Sunday afternoon, after his high school team won the Top Dawg 7on7 tournament at Husky Stadium. The 6’5, 230 pound defensive lineman becomes the first of what will most likely be three or four defensive trench players for Washington in the new staff’s first full go-around on the recruiting trail.

He chose Washington over nine other offers, including Utah and Arizona. Lane will also be joining his former Emerald Ridge teammate, incoming freshman wide receiver Denzel Boston, on the Washington roster. He’s scheduled to take his official visit to Washington this Friday, June 24th through Sunday, June 26th.
This is exactly the kind of momentum Washington was hoping to build leading into their biggest weekend of official visits, and now there are two commits visiting the school this weekend, with Lane joining Bakersfield (Calif.) running back Tybo Rogers, who can lead the charge as peer recruiters.
