Week 9 AP Poll: Washington Sticks at No 5., Knocks USC From Top 25

The AP Poll is out and has made things very clear: Washington will have to wait for someone above them to lose in order to move up. The Huskies came in at number 5 for the fifth time this year and the fourth week in a row.

After going on the road and winning a shootout against the 20th ranked USC Trojans the Huskies didn’t budge in the rankings. The Trojans however tumbled outside the Top 25 for the first time under Lincoln Riley.

Around the Pac-12 the general trend was up. Oregon held strong at 6, lining up for another potential top 10 match-up of the teams.

Oregon State got a boost to number 12 after beating Colorado potentially setting up a big match-up for the Huskies in Corvallis.

Utah was dominant against ASU and jumped 5 spots to 13 setting up a top 15 clash this weekend. Arizona’s big win knocked UCLA out of the poll and boosted the Wildcats to 23.

The Huskies now have wins over 6th-ranked Oregon and 23rd-ranked Arizona, plus a road win against a USC team we will likely see ranked by the end of the season.

With number 13 Utah up next, followed by number 12 Oregon State, the Huskies will have their chance to  bolster its playoff-worthy résumé.
