Washington’s Jedd Fisch Hints at Adding More Player(s) to 2026 Recruiting Class

The Washington Huskie have 21 known commits, putting them as the 18th in the nation on 247 Sports and 6th in the Big 10 Conference.

On the Coach Jedd Fisch Show, on KJR Sports Radio 93.3, live from JOEY Kitchen in University Monday night he broke down a bit more of what he expects the type of players to call Montlake home.

“Our goal is to build a team that out fan base knows and recognizes,” he told Washington play-by-play announcer Tony Castricone.  “Not one that is a revolving door of ‘wow, do we think that we can get this one player who might be 1-percent or 3-percent better so let’s try to to get them’.”

It’s a two-way street that aligns with mantra “Faith, Family, Football”, demonstrating that isn’t just a catch phrase.

“Fisch has stated that he wants to build a roster with players who are loyal to the university and players that he’s loyal to as well,” said RealDawg.com’s Trevor Mueller.  “There’s a ton of value in that where a player knows a system and coaches so well that the level of trust enables peak performance beyond that 1-3-percent Fisch alluded to.”

Fisch also mentioned that he thought there are 23 committed players when there are only 21.  Now, it could simply be that he has a ton of numbers swirling through his head that he’s trying to keep track of and it was a tiny mistake or there are a couple of silent commits.  According to sources, the 21 is an accurate number of commits, and it was just a misstatement.

But Fisch also stated “obviously, we’ll see how that all plays out but I hope it stays.  Maybe we’ll add one or two.”

“We’re at the point in the 2026 recruiting cycle where if there’s a guy that uber-talented that you find a way to get them on the roster,” Mueller said.

With the retirement of tight end Ryan Otton, beyond Quentin Moore there are no upper classmen.  However, Fisch might be looking to the portal for another tight end given that there will be just sophomores Decker Degraaf and Kade Eldridge and freshmen (all from Oregon) Baron Naone, Charlie Crowell and Austin Simmons.

“There aren’t any gaping holes in the roster like the one that Fisch inherited last season,” said Mueller.  “Building from within is his main objective.  Right now this is a solid class across with no obvious deficiencies.  In fact, I expect that it will get better as the season rolls along as several commits have the spotlight on them.”

Although he’s living in Charlotte, North Carolina, 4-star defensive lineman Damaad Lewis could bolster a defensive class.  He was at Bellevue, high school last season when his brother Damien played for the Seattle Seahawks.  However, Damien has since moved on to the Carolina Panthers.  In addition to Washington he lists Texas, Texas A&M, USC and UNC as his final schools to choose from.

The Huskies haven’t sent out any 2026 offers recently so the “one” that Fisch said could end up being the only addition.
