Washington Women Take High-Flying Offense to Hawaii for Weekend Tournament

The Washington women’s basketball team is beginning to leave quite the mark on Montlake, kicking off the 2023-24 season with four straight wins–averaging 87.5 points in those contests.

The Huskies obliterated the first two opponents on their schedule, rolling over Sacramento State with a 76-28 win, and blowing out North Carolina Central with a 113-39 victory. UW easily handled its following two challengers, beating Pacific 81-64, and Seattle University 80-64.

Now the team is gearing up to take its high-flying offense on the road for the first time this season, with matchups against Idaho State, Air Force, and Hawaii.  waiting for it in Honolulu for the three-day Rainbow Wahine Showdown. Washington stands as the only undefeated team in the bunch.

The team has been playing well together overall, but it most likely won’t be until the Huskies face tougher competition that we’ll be able to see what they’re truly capable of–strengths and weaknesses define them. Though it won’t amount to the challenge that will of course come with Pac-12 play, this weekend’s tournament will likely present Washington with a better barometer, so it’ll be interesting to see how everyone holds up.

For now, all that’s missing from Washington’s aerial assault is Michael Penix pulling an arrow from his quiver and letting it fly.
