The Kalen DeBoer era got off to a sizzling start on Saturday night with Washington’s 45-20 victory over Kent State. 2,188 miles away Michigan State dispatched Western Michigan by a similar margin, 35-13. The new-look Husky offense has renewed hope on Montlake and has ticket prices on the secondary market for UW’s game against Michigan State game in week 3 heating up.
A scan of the secondary market shows that the cheapest ticket on the Gametime App are going for $87.00 before service fees—for two seats together at the top of the north stands of Husky Stadium. The total: $238 for row 56 in the 330.
It’s not completely unexpected that ticket prices have soared on the heels of the week 1 victory.
“Passionate Husky fans have been sitting on their hands for nearly 2 years now,” said RealDawg.com’s Kaila Olin. “Both teams will most likely be unbeaten heading into the game, making it a marquee matchup with national implications as Michigan State will be in or close to being a top 10 team.”
Tickets of owner-held inventory on CraigsList.com is slim with a mere 6 offerings beginning at $100.00. On all ticket sources, moving to the lower bowl, ticket prices make a predictable climb in the GameTime app, topping out at $422 per seat ($1,108 for a pair) directly behind the Washington bench While on VenueTicketsOnline.com, two seats in a similar area, including ticket fees will set the buyer back $1,264–which is actually less than a month’s rent for a studio apartment in Green Lake. On StubHub, fees for two similar seats are $1,313.40.
$5.00 is the cheapest ticket on Gametime App for this coming Saturday’s contest against Portland State–less than a Mocha Frappuccino at almost any local coffee house.
The week after the MSU game, when the Huskies open conference play against the Stanford Cardinal, ticket prices begin in the $30 range. Should Washington knock off the Spartans, an immediate jump in prices would likely occur.
“The prospect of sending the team on the road to UCLA with a 4-0 record would create a much higher demand for tickets,” said Olin. “The students will be back and looking to recreate the electric atmosphere of the Stanford game in 2016.”
For the remainder of the season on the Gametime app tickets can be found for under 35, at this point.
Single-game tickets are still available through the university for all games.
