Washington Receives Surprise Visit from Former Husky, Pro-Bowler DB Marcus Peters

“I bet y’all woulda never guessed I’d show up at the Dub,” former Washington defensive back Marcus Peters said in a video released Friday.  It shows him inside Dempsy Indoor Arena, apparently after Washington’s 8th practice.

The last time Marcus Peters was on Washington’s campus was April 2nd for his Pro Day workout for the NFL.  He was contrite after being kicked off of the team by then-UW head coach Chris Petersen.

The 2014 football season was rocky for the Huskies and for Peters.  There was a sideline dust-up where he spiked his gloves after a dispute with defensive backs coach Jimmy Lake.  There were other instances where Peters and Lake were nose-to-nose but they didn’t see eye-to-eye.

In the years since the rocky relationship between the Univesity continued.  He was one of the first in a string of Husky defensive backs to be drafted over the next several years, prompting UW to become known as DBU.  In one case, Washington Football made a post on Twitter where Peters asked to not have his name associated with the program.

That situation appears to have been resolved with Peters being on hand for Washington’s 8th practice.  As seen below, currently with the Baltimore Ravens, Peters addressed Husky Nation in a video as well as stopped to pose with Kalen DeBoer.

In 2013 Peters was named All-Pac 12, with 55 tackles, 5 interceptions, a forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.  Peters played in the first 8 games of 2014 before being dismissed, eventually declaring for the NFL draft.

The move paid off for Peters as he was selected with the 18th pick overall by the Kansas City Chiefs.  Over his 8-year pro career, he’s been to the playoffs 7 times (missing one season due to injury) and played a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams.

His best season was his rookie year when he had 60 tackles, 26 passes defended, and 8 interceptions.  Following the season he was named the league’s defensive rookie of the year and second-team all-pro.  Over his NFL career, split with 3 different teams, he’s been an all-pro 4 times.
