That Washington Husky quarterback signee Dash Beierly is rated as a 3-star quarterback is a bit perplexing. Picked by Max Preps’ as the top team in the country before the season, he’s looking to lead Mater Dei to a wire-to-wire National Champions.

Mater Dei faces De Le Salle tonight at 8pm on the NFHS network
Facing one of, if not the toughest schedule in the land, Beierly joined the Monarchs less than 10 months ago, Beierly understood the monumental task ahead of him.
“First I had to earn my coaches and teammate’s respect,” he recalled.
Then the task is simply mastering the playbook that has brought several championships to the Santa Anna, California school.
Along the way he’s cleared every roadblock including a buffet of top 10 teams including national powerhouses, Bishop Gordon, Saint Frances Academy, and
“The defensive has carried us so far,” he said earlier in the season.
However, he was perfect nearly the entire season, not throwing an interception until two weeks ago. Heading into the his final high school game of his career his star couldn’t shine brighter—except for on the recruiting sites who list him as a 3-star.
“To be honest, I don’t care about stars, were shooting for the moon,” he proclaimed.
He’s completed 141-of-225 passes for 1,820 yards, 23 touchdowns and just two interceptions this year, while carrying the ball 77 times for 440 yards and five more scores.
He already has an active profile on the University of Washington’s official website and his high school career isn’t even finished.
It would have been one more TD but a defender poked the ball out from behind at the goal line. The ball went into the end zone for a touchback.
“Lesson learned,” he said. “I have to do a better job of taking care of the ball.”
To get to tonight’s game he’s answered every bell: Sierra Canyon 33-15; Centennial 36-7; and St. John Bosco 31-24 to win CIF-SS Division 1 Championship.
In the CIF Southern Section Division 1 semifinal against Centennial he got knocked out of the game with a deep bruise. He couldn’t put any weight on his leg most of the following week and was questionable for MD’s second matchup against SJB for the CIF SS D1 State Title.
Now comes his curtain call.
Beierly and the Monarchs look for the Open Division State Championship against Bay-Area power De La Salle. Win that and they will be crowned National Champions.
