Yesterday Graham-Kapowsin’s Noah Flores committed to UCLA. While some may say that losing a local kid, and a tight end, no less stings, wringing one’s hands isn’t necessary.
The Washington Huskies have handed out 11 scholarships to tight ends, over half have committed to a school not named Washington.
Of the 5 remaining uncommitted tight ends four are 4-star and the Huskies are in a good spot for them.
Already off the board is 4-star Ohio State commit Nate Roberts from Washington, Oklahoma. The number 11 TE in the country is listed at 6-4 and 235 pounds.
Also gone is 3-star Arizona State commit AJ La from Orange Lutheran down in Orange, California. He’s a very high 3-star as is Monte Vista, California’s Kellan Ford who is headed to Tucson, Arizona to play for the Wildcats. They’re the 20th and 21st rated tight ends in the country, respectively.
Mid-to-upper TEs Zach Giuliano and Bear Tenney are committed to Stanford and Nebraska.
That leaves Da’Saahn Brame from Derby, Kansas a 4-star prospect. Nationally, he’s the 102nd best player overall. He’s uncommitted but he’s down to Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Oregon and Tennessee.
That leaves 4 for the Huskies to choose from, including local speedster T’Andre Waverly from Kamiak in Mukilteo, Washington. The others are all 4-stars: Oregon-native Baron Naone; Kaleb Edwards from Oak Ridge; and Vander Ploog from Fullerton, California.
Given Washington tight ends coach Jordan Paopao’s ability to put TEs into the NFL he shouldn’t have much difficulty closing on at least one of the 4 remaining prospects.
Here’s who RealDawg feel that the Huskies have the best shot at landing.
