Washington Loses Former 4-Star DB to the Transfer Portal

Washington has had very few defections with the opening of the Spring Transfer Portal.  However, former 4-star defensive back Caleb Presley has decided to test the open market.  The former Oregon commit spent much of his time at UW trying to get healthy before seeing time with the first string defense this spring.

Presley was absent from practice Saturday morning as news broke of his name being put into the portal.

With Epehsians Prysock recovering from off-season surgery, Presley had been splitting time with the first team defense several times over the first 8 practices.

However, it was a crowded room with Leroy Bryant, Elias Johnson and freshman Ramonz Adams getting their shot as Prysock’s eventual backup.

There may be a couple of factors to the former 4-star’s departure.  One is that the portal’s window slams shut next week and the team will likely be ratcheting up the pressure as they attempt to establish a depth chart.

The defensive back’s departure may also clear up a roster spot for former Washington punter Jack McCallister to return to Montlake.

The Spring Transfer Portal window shuts at midnight on the 25th.
