Monday evening 3-star Wisconsin defensive back Wisconsin-lean, Makoi “Koi” Perich, from Esko, Minnesota announced that he’d received an offer from the Washington Huskies. The Huskies are his seventh Power 5 offer and first from outside the Big-10 or Big-12 footprint. The 6-0, 175-pound DB, who projects as a safety, received the offer from UW defensive coordinator Chuck Morrell.
His first Power 5 offer came from in his home state, the Minnesota Golden Gophers on October 18th. His recruiting has heated up considerably since the end of his season, picking up 5 offers.
The town of Esko sits on the southwestern tip of Lake Superior and borders Wisconsin. Longitudinally, Esko is essentially level with Centralia, Washington.
In his 2022 season, he played in all three phases of the game recording 75 Tackles, 3 interceptions, 4 forced fumbles, and 2 sacks. Offensively he was a dynamo in the passing and rushing games. On the ground, he averaged 13.6 yards per carry on 60 carries and 11 touchdowns. Through the air nine of the 17 passes he pulled down went for 353 yards. He also had 5 special teams touchdowns.

It appears that the Huskies are targeting him as a safety, making him the 10th offer UW has sent out for that position. The offer from Washington comes just over a month since he recorded the 1,000th point of his high school career.
Following the 2022 football season, he was named the all-district defensive player of the year. In addition to Football and Basketball, Perich also is a state-champion long jumper.
