Washington Lands Transfer OL Drew Azzopardi From San Diego State

The Huskies deliver another transfer portal splash after a busy weekend.

Washington made its fourth transfer portal addition in as many days by signing offensive lineman Drew Azzopardi from San Diego State on Monday. The lineman will be a strong addition to the trenches for the Huskies as the 6’7, 315-pound tackle has three years of eligibility remaining after a strong season at SDSU.

With junior Troy Fautanu entering the NFL draft and sophomore Roger Rosengarten potentially declaring soon, Azzopardi will have the opportunity to compete for a starting job next season as the Huskies look to rebuild the offensive line to match the success it has had over the past two seasons.

Azzopardi started the season’s final six games for the Aztecs and was impressive enough to earn offers from multiple programs. According to 247Sports, Azzopardi was ranked as the No. 3 offensive tackle and 53rd overall recruit. The Huskies have made big moves in the transfer portal, and securing a top lineman for next season will help this squad maintain its success on the offensive line.

With BJ Green, Ethan Barr, and Will Rogers already committed to the Huskies in 2024, Azzopardi is just the latest commitment for Kalen DeBoer as he continues to build a championship-caliber roster for next year.
