Washington Huskies Offensive Grades: Dominant Bounce-Back Performance Against Illinois

Washington Huskies Offensive Grades: Dominant Bounce-Back Performance Against Illinois

The Washington Huskies bounced back in a major way after an embarrassing loss the previous week. They took it to the No. 23 Illinois Fighting Illini, taking the lead in the second quarter, 21–17, and never looking back on their way to a 42–25 victory.

This statement win sets the stage for three straight games in which the Huskies will be favored heading into their showdown with Oregon — with everything still on the table for a postseason run.

Quarterback:
What a bounce-back performance from Demond Williams Jr. He was flawless throughout the game, completing 79% of his passes with four touchdowns. He was also extremely effective in the running game, taking the soul from defensive back Miles Scott on a crucial 3rd-and-18 run that moved the chains. Combine that with Denzel Boston’s touchdown pass, and the quarterback play was nearly perfect.
Grade: A+

Running Back:
Jonah Coleman looked better than he has for most of October. His 5.4 yards per carry marked the first time he’s averaged more than four yards since the matchup with Ohio State. He found the end zone yet again on the ground — his 13th rushing touchdown of the season — and added another through the air.
Grade: A

Wide Receivers:
Denzel Boston is one of the best receivers in the country, and he proved it in the Huskies’ most important game of the year. He caught ten passes for 153 yards and a touchdown, consistently coming through when the team needed a big play. The freshmen receivers continue to impress as well — Dezmen Roebuck looks like a future star.
Grade: A

Offensive Line:
None of the above would have been possible without the offensive line, which stole the show. The return of Carver Willis and John Mills made the offense look like it did before the Ohio State matchup. Coleman had clearer running lanes, and Williams enjoyed solid protection all game long. This performance proved that this team will go only as far as the O-line can take it.
Grade: A+
