Washington has Arizona Linebacker Visitor Whose Cousin Plays for Seattle Kraken

Not long after watching his cousin help the Seattle Kraken punch their first-ever playoff ticket, Arizona linebacker class of 2025 Jason Samis was on hand for the Washington Huskies’ 8th Spring Football practice.

“I was here visiting my cousin who plays for the Kraken,” Samis said.  “I was able to get a visit at the University of Washington.”

That cousin is two-time Stanley Cup Champion, and Seattle Kraken Left Wing, André Burakovsky, who signed a five-year, $27.5 million contract with the Kraken last July.

As a sophomore at Notre Dame Prep in Scottsdale, Arizona Samis put up modest numbers on both sides of the ball, in limited minutes.  In 13 games he carried the ball 47 times for 185 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Currently unrated by a scouting service, Samis would love to be a Husky, saying, “Hopefully I could be considered to attend a great school like this one day.”

Overall his experience was great.

“The facilities and coaches were amazing at UW,” the sophomore 2-sport athlete said.  “I had an amazing experience and I was very impressed with the player’s intensity.  All the staff was very friendly and I was able to see how the program operates.”
