The game was over after the third Penn State possession on Saturday night as the Nittany Lions took a 21 point lead.
At that point Washington has a missed field goal, a punt, and an interception while Penn State drove the ball easily down the field to score three straight touchdowns.
As expected the Nittany Lion offensive line chunked the Washington defense for almost 7 yards a carry. The Huskies did manage to get Penn State into some 3rd and long situations but Drew Allar was able to find receivers downfield for easy conversions.
Washington tried a few times on third and long situations to bring a safety blitz, but the long developing blitz failed to get to Allar before a receiver was in the vacated area.
The offense was only able to manage around 70 yards in the first half as Will Rogers was under duress and couldn’t complete the throws downfield. His interception came on a ball down the sidelines intended for Jeremiah Hunter who was overthrown by at least 5 yards.
In the second half the Huskies went with Demond Williams who showed flashes of brilliance. His ability to escape the pocket was on display as he showed Husky fans what’s in store in the future.
Regardless on the quarterback the Huskies had no answer for the Nittany Lion pass rush led by Abdul Carter who was the most dominant player on the field. Carter ended the day with 2 sacks and 4 tackles for loss, but disrupted anything Washington tried to do.
Jedd Fisch said that as of right now Will Rogers is the starter going into the Friday night matchup with UCLA. A must win game for the Huskies to become bowl eligible.
