Washington Fall Camp Day 4: A Day for Dylan Morris

Day four of camp was a peek into Husky fans worst-case scenario for the 2023 season; no Michael Penix. While Penix was present with his helmet and taking mental reps behind Dylan Morris and Austin Mack, he threw zero passes during any part of practice.

Instead during the 11-on-11 session Dylan Morris led the 1st team offense while Austin Mack took the snaps with the backups.

Morris continues to progress in the Washington system by running the offense efficiently. The first throw in scrimmage was his worst throw on a ball to the flat that was almost picked off by Bralen Trice.

Morris did find success in the intermediate and balls down field. His two best throws of the morning were a 15-yard ball to Giles Jackson on the sidelines that was perfectly placed between two defenders.

Downfield it was Rome Odunze’s world. The Biletnikoff award nominee consistently got past the defense and position himself to haul in contested throws down field.

The issue continues to be balls to the flat. Along with the batted balls, Morris struggled to put the ball in the right place for receivers to catch the ball in stride.

One instance was a ball to Jalen McMillan, the ball was out front and at McMillan’s knees that he was unable to adjust to make the catch.

While no one is hoping to see Morris take a snap of meaningful football this fall, Morris showed that if the nightmare comes true, the program will still have a shot to win any game he is called to play in.
