Under the sun on a Thursday morning the Washington Huskies worked with no pads and heavy on fundamentals. The Huskies moved from station to station working on position specific skills. The defense on the east side and the offense on the westside.
Defensive players were working with position coaches on balance and hand placement against the pass and the front seven worked on finding the ball. Many times throughout the camp position coaches stopped the drill to fine tune player’s technique.
Offensively the Huskies worked on the nitty gritty aspects of a fine tuned offense; blocking. While there were balls thrown and running back reps, much of the fundamentals focused on the right angles to create big holes.
As Husky fans have come to expect, the defensive backs are one of the best units, overall.
Not a lot can be gleaned on just the second day of practice, but the DBs are ahead of their offensive counterparts.
Transfers safety, Justin Harrington; cornerback, Ephesians Prysock; and cornerback, Jordan Shaw all made plays as did, cornerback, Caleb Presley.
At one point during the practice the 1’s and 2’s offense faced off against the 3’s defense and visa versa on each end of the field.
Both groups were working their goal line communication as the 1’s and 2’s secondary made life tough for the backup quarterbacks.
The offense work effectively on rout schemes against the 3’s defense in the west endzone as both Will Rogers and Demond Williams Jr. picked apart the inexperienced defense.
Tomorrow the team will be in full pads and Coach Fisch will be available for questions at the conclusion.
