The Washington Huskies added some serious girth over the last 24 hours in two commitments to the offensive line. First, Sunday the Huskies earned the commitment of Peter Langi, a 6-5 330 pound interior O-linemen. Monday saw the Huskies reel in Esun Tafa, a 6-4 305 pound interior o-linemen.
Both bring a frame that Brennan Carroll could shape into the future interior of an elite O-line, but what does each bring to the table?
First, Peter Langi looks like the hulk when lined up against the high school D-linemen on the opposite side. Langi had over 35 offers including Alabama, Penn State, and Texas A&M because of his combination of size and mobility. He moves very well laterally and gets outside as a pulling guard. People as big as Langi don’t move like he does which is why it is a big deal that Washington was able to earn the 2025 commit.
Today Washington snagged another big man in Esun Tafa. Tafa is excellent in his technique moving laterally. He is ahead of where many pass-protectors are at his age. The 247 composite 4-star linemen is rated the 10th best interior linemen in his class. He still has another year of high school and will be on Montlake in 2026. Washington won the commitment over offensive line powers of Oregon and Utah.
These two have the makings to be an elite guard pair much like Julius Buelow and Nate Kalepo were for the 2023 season that won the Joe Moore Award.
There is always questions around projecting player development but these two have the foundational pieces to be household names in the coming years.
