Washington adds former five-star DB Bookie Radley-Hiles

Bookie Radley-Hiles was a consensus top 50 recruit when he was coming out of IMG Academy in Florida in 2018, and it showed on the field at Oklahoma. Over his three years with the Sooners, he recorded 115 total tackles, 3 interceptions, and 11 passes defensed.

With the way the Big-12 plays defense, Radley-Hiles was looking for a new challenge, and who better to not only do that, but help him prepare for the NFL than Jimmy Lake and his staff?

Upon taking a dive into his film, Radley-Hiles has a lot to nail down when it comes to his technique, but his passion and energy stands out on every play. He has great ball skills and saying he brings the heat with every hit is an understatement. He does have some things he needs to nail down technique-wise and tends to play a little bit out of control at times.

This is nothing that Lake, Will Harris, and Terrence Brown can’t fix, and with a player of his caliber, he’s bringing some major attitude to the Husky secondary. The biggest question is where will he fit in the defense?

There’s no better role for him than what Budda Baker and Taylor Rapp used to play. Dropping down as the nickel back in sub packages, and over the top as a safety in base. That way he can do a little bit of everything, and defensive coordinator Bob Gregory can utilize him to the best of his abilities.

Jimmy Lake is starting to make a name for himself in the transfer portal, as this is the fourth player he’s been able to grab out of it this year. Expect Radley-Hiles to make an impact right off the bat, and bring some energy with every hit he lays at Husky Stadium this year.
