Just ahead of when players report for Fall Camp next week, the Washington Huskies appear to have received the commitment from 3-star quarterback transfer from San Diego State, Will Haskell. The 6-4, 200-pound signal-caller is familiar with Kalen DeBoer, having received an offer while at Ironwood High School in Glendale, Arizona in 2020. He led IHS to the 5-A State Championship Final as a senior.

At one point the Spring of 2022, the 3-star QB was thought to be the odds-on starter for the Aztecs. SDSU Podcast reported the following:
“A dynamic redshirt freshman, Will Haskell, entered spring camp atop the depth chart, splitting reps to earn the starting QB job. Haskell is polishing his craft to give his world-class athleticism a chance to shine.”
However, Oregon transfer, Braxton Burmeister won the job. Haskell saw the field in 3 games last season. When Burmeister went down against Arizona Haskell went completed 2 of 6 passes for 11 yards and had 19 rushing yards. Against Utah Burmeister went down again and Haskell was called upon. After 3 plays he was pulled for fellow freshman Kyle Crum.
He left the team the following week.
Through his Twitter account, appears that he went the JuCo route, academically and completed his Associate’s Degree this past week. However, he put his name into the Transfer Portal last December.
In the time since leaving SDSU Haskell has kept active through Arizona-based private QB coach Mike Giovando in Phoenix. He followed that up by closing his recruitment and committing to UW, presumably as a walk-on with 4 years of eligibility remaining.
The University has yet to make any formal announcement and does not appear on the team’s online roster.
